1mg of intrathecal morphine equals about 300mg oral morphine
so .25mg intrathecal=75mg oral morphine
hydrocodone and morphine are close to opioid equivalent or at most 1.5 to 1
Therefore one would need 10-15 hydrocodone 5/500 tablets to cover the switch without withdrawl.

To me it doesn't sound like the withdrawl was psychogenic
I believe that Bup would be a better choice for withdrawl of opiates

As a pain doctor I haven't been successful at getting people of opioids before bup was available
